Elder Brownfield, November 1st, 2010

well well this week i said that i would have a good story or that i would make it up so i will let yall decide which it is but this week went well its still going by pretty quick and next week is transfers again on Tuesday so it should be fun im happy either way if i stay or go so we'll see what the lord wants me to do anyways i wont be able to write till Tuesday so i hope all is going well and your always in my prayers : ) well past week we've been helping the other missionaries in my district so haven't had to much time in my own area but we still have dan baskas being baptized on the 13th and hes way excited but yeah so hears the story we were tracting the other day and knocked on this one house she was very nice but said that they were not interested so we went to the next couple houses and as were walking away from one of them we see two men looking for us and as they spot us they flagged us down and said that we stopped by their house but were in the back yard and that they wanted to know more about us so they invited us in and we started having a great discussion nothing too out of the ordinary and then all of a sudden we brought up the book of Mormon and that it was another testament of Jesus Christ and asked them if they knew anything about it they said no and then started unloading all these questions on us if we thought that the bible was false then which scripture were they and where does the book of Mormon correct those? then they asked about the Godhead, and then they started asking about prophets and how they were called, and many more we tried answering most of them but then it turned into more of a debate and they wanted us to prove our point of view without even knowing what they believed( this happens quite often ) so we started in on it anyways 3 hours later we come out of there having accomplished nothing to say the least anyway ruin the surprise it really did happen but the surprise is it usually happens every week but thats what comes with the territory we are asking for some people to set us up and just knowing that the spirit will guide us through it, sorry for babbling on but i hope all is well and another week has gone by without to many issues : ) love yall and have a great week !

hey there everyone well another week flew by and this week we started teaching a man named dan vaskus hes awesome and hes definitely been prepared for the Gospel and hes planning on being baptized on the 13 of November so that's pretty sweet and this week blaze and tremor are getting baptized so this should be a great week as for anything else not much exciting is happening but i will try to send a good email next week hope all is well and your always in my prayers !!!!!!!!!! love y'all a ton and have a great week

hey there everyone well this week went and went and its gone its crazy just a couple more weeks till Halloween i cant wait well we have a baptism coming up on the 23rd it should be awesome their names are blaze(12) and tremor(10) carter and they are way sweet some great kids and they love the Gospel so I'm really excited for them but yeah things are going good down here its staring to get chilly during the evening and its only getting down to the 60s so I'm in trouble when it comes time for me to leave but who know maybe we will have a snow storm a week before i leave : ) wishful thinking but anyways that's all for this week but hope y'all have a great one and we will talk to you next week : )

hey there everyone well another week gone by just as quick as the others well today is transfer day and my comp and i are staying together so i will be here in sierra vista for another 6 weeks at least, i was hoping to go somewhere else but i know this is where the lord wants me to be because since i found out that i was staying we have found about 5 or 6 new people to teach so the work is really starting to pick up and we are seeing alot of success well as for more updates i cant think of anything worth writing but im sure there is more well i guess until next week hope everyone is doing good and your always in my prayers! have a great week : )

well this week went by as quick as any of them but it was a good week we had a baptism on friday his name is ray padilla and hes a soldier in the army so that helped prepare him alot for the gospel and then on friday as well elder johnson of the seventy came to speak to us it was great to hear his council and help us become better missionaries, and this week will be that last full week of the transfers and then we will find out the results on sunday whether or not either of us stays or goes, and with that next week i wont be able to write till tuesday because of transfers so i hope to hear from yall next week i hope yall are enjoying the weather up there today should be in the 90s so its starting to cool down a bit but i still pray for rain : ) well i love yall and hope your week is great ! until next week : )

ok so this week wasn't as eventful as last week but it went by pretty fast, so this week we have a mission conference and elder johnson of the seventy will be speaking so that will be pretty cool and things down here are going really well it hasn't slowed down at all but I'm getting to know the area really well and we should have a few baptisms next month so I'm excited about that as for everything else its going great well thanks for all your love and support and i will have more next week : )

Elder Brownfield, September 8th, 2010

well as i promised this week was packed with things to write about so at the beginning of last week we went down to the bottom of my area ( Naco) its right on the mexican border so we decided too go and take pictures of us touching the fence and before we could even get out of the car we had a border patrol on us and ready to ask some questions but everything was alright i told him that we wanted to take some pictures of the border and then asked if that was alright and he said that that was fine then i asked if he could take it and he almost did but realized that it was probably a bad idea and changed his mind but we got our pics then a couple days later for lunch we went to this pace called vinneys and they have a hot wing challenge and you know i cant pass that up so here's the challenge all you have to do is finish no time limit that's how hot it is but you have to eat 20 of their hottest wings you can have as much as you want to drink but you cant go to the bathroom or go outside at all and if you finish you picture goes on the wall well it took me 30 grueling minutes but i finished it took the others about and hour so I thought that was pretty good but yeah that's the excitement for this week and I've got some pictures to add so hopefully they work : ) love you all and i will write more next week !

hey there everyone well this week has been pretty crazy but good I'm really liking sierra vista and i really like the people here well this past week was transfers and that was exciting and then on Saturday we were trained by d. Todd Christopherson of the quorum of the twelve it was pretty cool i learned alot he talked about hope and taking life one step at a time he said that if were not enjoying our mission then somethings wrong and we shouldn't just be enduring it but also that if were not tired or pushed that we are not working hard enough so we definitely have to find that happy medium and i thin that applies to every day life as well not just the missionaries he was talking to but to everyone well things are good and lots of good things are happening down here so I'm excited for this next transfer well i love y'all and hope you have a great week !

hey there everyone well this week has been crazy i just got transferred today i am now in sierra vista AZ it right by the mexican border and my new companion is elder thatcher i know crazy i just came from thatcher to train elder thatcher but it will be fun he has been out one transfer and I'm his second companion so in mission language I'm his mom but things should be good I'm district leader down here so that should be fun but I'm very excited there is a ton of work to be done here so it should be good and sierra vista is way bigger than thatcher so I'm happy about that well that's about it for me oh we are having D. hey there everyone well this week flew by we had a leadership meeting in tucson so on tuesday iwent down there and didnt get back until thurs night so things went quick except for the 8 hour trainings on wed and thurs but it was good to get back into tucson i really love it down there especially the food, all we have in the valley is mcdonalds and a coouple mexican resturants so tucson is food heaven but we have another training this week so i leave for tucson tonight and donnt get back until wed night so this week should go by pretty quick too well other than that nothing exciting has happenedexcept that we get a ton of rain each day and then it gets super humidbut what can you do ? alrighty then well i hope you all have a great week and i hope to hear from you next week and keep me posted on everything that is happening : ) love Daniel

hey there everyone well this week was great the area is picking up alot im stoked about it i was told that this week we had the best week for indicators in for the past year so elder stong and i are pretty pumped we have an investigator his name is william and he wants to be baptized but his dad wont let him so if you could pray for him and his dad that would be great we also have a couple others that could use your prayers too their names are kelsey, leanna, robert, and emily well as you can see we had a pretty sweet thunder storm this week so i thought i would send some pics hope you like them weve also had monsoons every day for the past week and that has sucked because its gotten up to 110 with the humidity so thats sucks but you gotta keepon keepin on well i think thats about the jist of it thias week but elt me know how everything is going out there especially how garett is doing that guys a trooper wel i love yall and hope you have a great week and your always in my prayers!

hey everyone thanks for the updates this week it was good to hear from everyone and keep me updated on garettand i will keep him in my prayers for sure well this week has gone by pretty quick as usual but i had an awesome experience yesterday we went to church and just as sacrament was out in the foyer i bumped into a couple i was teaching in tucson ( i was teaching the husband for 6 months ) and anyways i found out that he had decided to get baptized two weeks ago so i fely blessed to be in the right place at the right time because i probably never would have heard about it so that was really cool and elder stong iand i are getting along great it will be a good transfer well thats all for this week but i love yall and hope you have agood one

hey there everyone well this week was pretty good even though i didnt get to see any fireworks, we recieved our transfer calls last night and i will be staying here in thatcher another transfer and my new comp will be elder stong i dont know to much about him yet but next week i will let yall know, and ores also asked me to be the district leader over thatcher so that will be something new for me but im excited for this transfer and keeping the work going here in thatcher well thats about the extent of my week so far but im going to try and post some pics love yall

hey there everyone well this week went by pretty quick, this week we had zone training and that's when we do interviews with pres. and i pretty much found out that i will be staying here in thatcher another transfer so I'm happy but sad at the same time i would like to go back to Tucson but yeah we also found out that we will only be able to go to the temple every three months but that's still better than none so I'm happy well I'm trying to think of something that was exciting this week oh we had our first monsoon on Wednesday and it was cool but it sucked afterwards cause it gets super humid and its been 110 consistently so that and humidity sucks on a bike but the thunder and lightning is way cool and they have sweet sunsets after well i will have to send some pics next week but i love y'all and hope you have a great week !

well this week has gone by pretty quick like usual nothing has changed to much but one thing i turn 10 months this saturday so that's pretty crazy but other than that transfers are in two weeks and i think i will be heading back to tucson but we will see what the lord wants me to do : ) well i also wanted to wish all the fathers happy fathers day ! and thanks everyone for all the love and support and hopefully i will have some stories tell next week love y'all and hope you have a great week!

hey there everyone sorry i didn't send an email last week i had some issues with the computer i was using and so my time got cut short but here i am well i am in the same area and nothing has really changed for this transfer so that's that and i got to go to the temple an Wednesday that was great it made my day temples are truly the house of the lord and being in the Gila valley i will be able to go every other week so I'm really pretty excited about that ! other than that it has been a nice cool 110 on average here and its only supposed to get hotter they say that this year the valley is supposed to get hotter than phoenix but we will see about that at least I'm praying that it wont : ) well things are going good here, hope everyone is having a good week so far and cant wait to hear from you next week : ) Daniel

hey there everyone i hope you all had a good week this week has been really exciting we had the cultural celebration on saturday night and then we went to the temple dedication on sunday what a great experience that was ive really noticed pres. monson's humor is really starting to show these days, oh and another thing pres. monson and pres.eyring and elder holland all drove by us as we were biking on friday and they waved as they went by that was pretty cool! well this week is transfers and I'm not sure whats going to happen but i know it will be the will of the lord, ok well i love you all and hope you have a great week and i look forward to talking to you all next week: )

hey everyone! Well this week has been good. I'm not sure if I mentioned that my comp and I did service for this family the other week and they are the ones who own Pres. Kimball's childhood home. So that was pretty exciting. They said that after the open house they want to give us a private tour so I'm very excited about that. We are continuing to see many miracles from the temple. We had one of our wards fast for missionary work and that their friends and family going through the open house will have their hearts softened and last night we felt prompted to visit this family that was less active and come to find out that the father and son had talked about the son wanting to be baptized just the night before. So we are already seeing blessings and I do know that fasting is one of the best ways to add power and show your sincerity to Heavenly Father about the things that you truly need and pray for. Well, I love y'all and hope to hear from you next week!

hey everyone this week has gone by pretty quick as usual but today we were able to go to the open house of the temple, it was amazing! This temple is so beautiful they spent a lot of time and effort to make sure everything is perfect and it shows. Well not much else has been happening down here but we are working hard and waiting for the temple to touch the hearts of the people in this valley. I know that we will be very busy in just a couple of weeks with all the people who have gone and felt the spirit of the temple. Well , I love you all and hope you have a great week!

hey there everyone well another week has gone by so to update y'all I'm still in thatcher and my new comps name is Elder Buffington hes pretty cool but i miss my last comp Elder Torres he went home to the Philippines but not much else has changes here the whole zone got moved around but I'm in the blessed valley and i feel pretty fortunate being one of 15 missionaries who will be at the dedication and open house of the temple out of 180 missionaries I'm pretty lucky to be one of those well if you want you can look at some pics of the temple on lds.org and look up Gila Valley temple well i love y'all and hope you have a good week ! hey there everyone well this week has gone by pretty quick not to much has happened except one of the investigators that the elders here have been teaching for 3 months now was baptized on Saturday his name is Travis Smith and its been awesome getting to know him well thatcher has been treating me pretty well no complaints I'm in a full bike area so I'm biking a ton and sad thing is i weighed myself the other day and i haven't gained a pound i was so angry : ) well things are looking up here we have a few people were teaching but I'm still trying to figure everything out we cover 3 wards so on Sunday we are super busy probably the busiest day of the week, serious we have meetings from 7 am to 5 pm and then we head straight to dinner from there so its pretty crazy but i will get a hang of it ! well that's about it cant wait to hear from you all next week: )

hey there everyone well this week has been crazy! so first off i got transferred to thatcher Arizona its the smallest town in the state i swear probably the size of Ferndale or so, that's kinda what it reminds me of actually and there are a ton of members here so its pretty nice and the best part about thatcher is a temple is going up here and the open house will be April 23 to may 15 its actually called the Gila valley temple but its right here in thatcher. my new comp. is Elder Torres hes pretty cool hes from the Philippines and this is his last transfer so there is no guessing about it i will be here for the open house and the dedication and the cultural celebration and the prophet will be here to dedicate the temple so i am very excited to be here the work is so much different here than in Tucson mostly cause the members help out a lot more and another nice perk is we practically get every thing free or discounted (free dairy queen!! I'm going to get FAT!) so for a missionary its pretty much amazing here oh and my new address is 3993 W. main st apt #17 Thatcher AZ 85552 well hope to here from you all soon, i was sad to leave Tucson but now I'm excited to be here! well i have to go love you all ! hey there everyone this week went by pretty quick again but we had Carries baptism this weekend and it was great definitely felt the spirit and her mom was there and will be taking the lessons here pretty soon so we are very excited for their family! Dave's doing great he received the priesthood yesterday so that was awesome it made my day, well things are going really good here and transfers are on Wednesday so i have a feeling that i will be transferred that's how it usually happens but i will find out tonight whether i leave or not so we will see; its been a good 6 months here and i would be sad to leave but if the lord wants me else where that's where i will go, thanks too all those who wrote me this last week i really enjoyed hearing from you all well I've got to go but love you all and hope you have a great week! hey there everyone well this week went really well and pretty fast too! but we had a baptism for Dave last night which was amazing and Carrie will be baptized this Saturday as well so keep her in your prayers as well other than that nothing else really exciting happened but this week will be my 6 month mark out here on the mission so that will be good I'm excited about that and i cant believe how quick its gone by, truly i will be home before you know it. haha just kidding its gone by fast but a year and a half is a bit of time so have lots of time to work hard well i love you all and cant wait to hear from you all next week and your always in my prayers. hey there fam ! well this week has gone by pretty quick and being a holiday yesterday the libraries were all closed so I'm emailing today instead the holidays always seem to mess up our schedule but whatever as long as i get time out of the week I'm happy : )well one miracle i saw this week was we had a man named Dave show up to church on Sunday and we got talking to him and found out that he had investigated the church about a year ago in Tucson but he is in the air force and they moved him before he could be baptized and then he fell away for a while he said but he was sent back to Tucson and he said that he wanted to get back into it so we stopped by last night had a great lesson and after resolving some of his concerns we talked about baptism and half way into it he said I'm sorry for interrupting but i really want to be baptized I've i know its true and I'm not sure how when you can do it but i could be swimming in it ! and the amazing thing about it is that we talked to our mission president about him and he told us to set a date for this weekend and previous to the lesson we were kinda hesitant to set that date with him but he beat us to the punch so this weekend we will be baptizing Dave its truly a miracle and next weekend we will be having another baptism for Carrie so if you all could pray for them and everything that would be great, well i hope that everything is going well with you all and i cant wait to hear from you next week. hey there everyone well this week by pretty fast our area is still doing pretty good. There is definitely more we could be doing but we are working on that there is always more to be done: )but we are excited for our investigator Carrie because she will be baptized next weekend and the best part is her father is going to do it so its been a growing experience for both of them and I'm super excited for the things that are going to come of it, sorry this week is so short but i had to some survey for the church and it took up a lot of time but all is well and hope you all have a great week ! love Daniel

hey there, well this letter may be lengthy but i will do my best. sorry i haven't updated you all lately but i don't get a lot of time with the computer and I'm not the fastest typer in the world : ) but as of yesterday we had an amazing week i had the opportunity to go to one of my previous investigators baptisms, his name is Sheldon i have been teaching him since I've been out and just a couple weeks ago he decided to move out of our area and so we didn't get to baptize him but he got wet and that's all that matters so that was a blessing then we have Carrie who I've mentioned before but it just keeps getting better,so the less active family is starting to reactivate because Carrie has the lessons at their house and her father wants to baptize her so he came to church for the first time in 15 years and talked with the bishop and is good to do so on the 13th and then her mother has been mentioned about being interested in taking the lessons also.... but were working on that. then we have Sherill she is way solid but has had some family pass away recently so we haven't had to much time to visit but shes set to get wet on the 27th and we have Johnna who is interesting but sincerely interested in the gospel and shes going to be baptized on the 27th as well but she needs to stop smoking first, then we have what we like to call the eternigators and they are the ones we just teach forever for some reason or not they don't want to be baptized at this time one of them is Lori and shes been through some stuff but her daughter was baptized in October and Lori is quiting smoking and says that she wants about a month before she feels ready but i know her and i know that when she starts coming back to church that she will have that desire its been about 2 months since she been then we have Lincoln who was just married to a member 6 months ago and this is the most religious hes has been in his life so making that step to being baptized is hard for him, oh and then we have Vienney he is a refugee from Africa and hes been ready to be baptized forever now but his girlfriends parents wont let them get married until he pays a dowry of $5000 but we are working on that and we are hoping to get him married and baptized by the 20th so these are most of our investigators we have more but I'm running out of time and if you could just keep them all in your prayers. well i love you all and hope you have a great week see ya !

hey there everyone well another weeks come and gone yesterday E. Farmer and i were asked to speak in one of our wards which was really good so i hope it gets the ward excited about missionary work so we have more to do you can never be to busy out here oh and this morning we went on a little hike which was really fun i will have to send pictures soon but i always forget to bring the cord to my camera ha ha. well we are still seeing a lot of miracles out here so its great, we should be having a couple baptisms here in the next couple weeks but i will keep you updated as that gets closer well love you all and hope everything is going great and i cant wait to hear from you all again!

hey there family well this past week has gone by pretty fast and Wednesday is transfers so we will see if i get moved around or not but the probability is high that in getting transferred, pres. talked with me and others in the zone a said that unless the spirit says other wise I'm leaving so you never know what the lords will is..... until Monday night when i get "the call" so keep me in your prayers and oh i don't have a lot of time today but will be emailing tomorrow so you all can know if and where I'm going and what my new address will be but just to be safe you can always mail me @ 1840 E. hey there family well this week was pretty successful we saw alot of miracles happen for example we have been trying to reactivate this one family so we go over every week and visit them but this wee we went over and the oldest son told us that he has a girlfriend and he told her she needed to be baptized so she came over and talked with us and we had a good lesson but the topping on the cake is she said her dad is a less active member and went on a mission and everything so not only is this helpinng her family but its helping the family weve been working with too! and yesterday they went to pick up carrie ( girlfriend) to bring her to church she didnt end up coming but then the family came to church and this is the first time in about a year or two so we were very excited about that well im sorry but i have to go but i love you all and hope you have a great week! hey there thanks for the email I'm glad that you all had a good Christmas and its true there is so much that we have to be thankful for this year, I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn so much i cant believe how much I've learned in the past 4 months, well the work here was kinda slow this holiday season but its picking back up again were up to about 10 investigators which is OK we should have more and we will it just takes time and faith!
